I don't mean to be nit-picky, but I hope you'll accept this as friendly advice from a former curator and Civil War reenactor toward a more authentic look. Some things you might consider before you start your second regiment: U.S. canteens did not have "U.S." on them and were generally carried on a white cloth sling. One regiment with leather slings might be ok, as they could have been issued from a state militia armory. If you want more variety, they could be covered with dark or light blue, tan or gray cloth. Also, the rifle slings were brown leather. you did a splendid job and I look forward to seeing your Zouaves and Confederates. Feal free to ignore these ramblings, for they are your army, and very handsomely painted.
Fantastic. Cannot wait to see this project as it unfolds.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice, it's always welcome. The Zouaves are already on their way, but I'll correct the other regiments. See you soon for new updates!
